Health Equity Series- Maternal Morbidity and Mortality
The Wright Center’s Health Equity Series is a quarterly exploration and community discussion of health disparities with collaborating partners locally, in Virginia and nationwide. Join VCU faculty, VCU Health medical providers and expert guests as they present on the latest research, listen to attendees and plan a way forward – through community-engaged research and increased awareness for all.

You're invited to participate this May, as our collaborating partners provide information on advances, gaps and shared resources concerning minority health research. Join Dr. Kenesha Smith Barber, Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System coordinator and epidemiologist at the Virginia Department of Health, Amy Paulson, Director of the Consortium for Infant and Child Health and Instructor at the EVMS Pediatrics who will focus on maternal and child health – and highlight significant disparities among vulnerable populations. Understanding the connections between a mother’s health and that of her newborn is crucial for addressing maternal and infant mortality and morbidity. Speakers will discuss current maternal and child health research and statewide initiatives that improve the health delivery system for mothers and their children
